What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

As a critical care intensivist, I specialize in the management of life-threatening conditions including cardiogenic shock, respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac arrest, and multisystem organ failure. My practice spans the care of patients with advanced cardiac and postoperative cardiothoracic conditions requiring mechanical circulatory support and complex hemodynamic management, as well as general critical care for patients with severe infections, neurologic emergencies, metabolic derangements, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

I use a range of advanced critical care techniques including invasive hemodynamic monitoring, bedside echocardiography, and mechanical ventilation management. My procedural expertise includes endotracheal intubation, percutaneous tracheostomy, central and arterial line placement, pulmonary artery catheterization, transvenous pacing, and the use of mechanical circulatory support devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, and ECMO. 

What would you like your patients to know about your approach to care?

Hospitalization can be an incredibly challenging experience - not only for patients, but also for their families and loved ones. I strive to ensure that both patients and families feel heard, supported, and included in the care process. I believe that empathy, clear communication, and compassionate, patient-centered care are essential to helping patients and families navigate even the most difficult circumstances.
