Bio
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
Some of the specific conditions that I treat are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer, lung nodule management, tobacco addiction, lung cancer screening, obstructive sleep apnea, pneumonia, & pleural effusions.
What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?
Some of the techniques I use in our practice are pulmonary function testing and sleep studies.
Describe some of your professional highlights.
I was a bed-side nurse for about 6 years in a critical care unit and then obtained my Doctorate of Nurse Practice in Adult Gerontology Critical Care. I have worked alongside my partners in the group for years and I am a board-certified APN. I am a part of the nationwide COPD Foundation, I attend monthly multidisciplinary meetings to discuss interstitial lung disease cases, and I am on the Lung Cancer Screening Committee.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
Whether you are a new patient, coming after a hospital admission, or have been a patient in our practice for years, we will look at the big picture together and make sure you understand your diagnosis and plan of care. My approach to care is comprehensive and educational. I like to educate my patients on their diseases and management so it is manageable for them once they get home. I would like each patient to understand that I collaborate with my physician colleagues daily, ensuring that each plan of care is custom to the patient and also up to date with the most recent guidelines for management of diseases.
What inspired you to become a provider?
After working bedside in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic, I knew I could do so much more if I had the tools to do so. I strived to make sure that patients were well taken care of and advocated for while their families were not allowed at the bedside. I translate that to my work now, ensuring that after each office visit, the patient understands their plan of care and can leave here feeling confident they can take care of themselves.
