What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

I am a board-certified general surgeon with additional training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. My practice focuses on many diseases of the abdomen, both benign and malignant. These include simple and complex hernias of the abdominal wall/groin, hiatal/paraesophageal hernias, inflammatory disease of the gallbladder, benign and malignant disease of the small and large intestine, disease of the appendix, and benign and malignant disorders of the skin and soft tissues.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

I am trained in both traditional open as well as laparoscopic and robotic abdominal surgery. The goal with all my procedures is to perform a safe surgery that ideally optimizes the patient's recovery and return to regular activity. I work in conjunction with the patient in choosing the right operation for them. In addition, I also treat many skin and soft tissue conditions under local anesthesia.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

I was trained at a very busy trauma center in Brooklyn by excellent technical surgeons who also taught me how to be a compassionate and dedicated doctor. I have used their foundation to establish a practice focused on being a patient advocate and dedicated to the health of my community.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

I approach every patient as an individual who is coming in with a problem that they need help with. I believe that my role is to be an advisor, a supporter, and the patient's advocate. I work closely with each patient in making the best informed decisions regarding their treatment. I value providing quality and dedicated care to all my patients.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

I was born in the former Soviet Union to a family of physicians. From an early age, I was inspired by my parents' dedication to caring for other people and the sacrifices they made to give me a better life. I knew that I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I love the fact that I can provide a service to my community and be a guide to people during scary and vulnerable times in their life.
