Bio

What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

As an NP, I treat acute critical care and cardiac conditions. I specialize in cardiac conditions including heart failure exacerbations, cardiogenic shock, myocardial infarctions ("heart attacks"), arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and heart blocks that may require pacemakers or medication therapy. In the CCU, the team often takes care of post-procedure patients such as those who have gone to the cardiac catheterization lab or for pacemaker placement. Additionally, beyond the world of cardiology, I treat a wide variety of critical care conditions such as post-partum hypertension, preeclampsia, patients with respiratory failure, COPD, pneumonia, post-operative states, bleeding, and sepsis.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

Some of the procedures I use in practice include central line insertions, arterial line insertions, thoracentesis, IV insertions, blood draws, and ultrasounds of the heart/lungs.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

Professionally, I have more than 6 years of critical care experience. As a nurse I was recognized with the Rising Star Award, given to nurses that provide exemplary care. I received my certification as a CCRN prior to pursuing my Master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a Family Nurse Practitioner working as a coronary care APN, my goal is to treat the acute phase of each patient's illness while beginning to prepare the patient for the care they will be receiving at home in the primary setting after discharge.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

Every patient is unique and has their own approach to how they would like to be treated. When approaching each patient, I would like to partner with them by encouraging them to be a participant in their care. I enjoy learning about each patient's life and how we can support their health physically, mentally, and socially. With this approach, I aim to empower patients and create a treatment plan together to ensure the best outcomes.
