Bio
Describe some of your professional highlights.
My biggest professional highlights have been the deep connections I’ve formed with patients and their families. It is truly humbling to be recognized as someone who has made a lasting impact in peoples' lives. I have had the privilege of training and working at institutions known for their outstanding medical care and dedication to promoting well-being at all stages of life, as well as advocacy against ageism in medicine.
Stepping into a leadership role in a geriatric medicine fellowship has also been a defining career moment. Geriatric medical education is something I am deeply passionate about, and I've had the honor to present at national conferences and have contributed to continuing medical education resources for physicians seeking to update their knowledge in geriatrics. Building relationships, with patients, their loved ones, and fellow colleagues, have been the most rewarding aspects of my career.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
I want my patients to know that my approach to care is built on compassion, collaboration, and respect. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the illness. This means I take the time to understand not only your physical health but also your emotional and social well-being. I view each patient as a partner in their care, and I am committed to listening to your concerns, answering your questions, and involving you in the decision-making process.
I believe that medicine should be patient-centered, life-centered, not disease-centered. Our diseases are not what define us. Medical care is not just about treating the body but about helping you heal yourself. I believe we have all the tools within us and around us, and health and well-being extend beyond our physical conditions or the diseases we acquire over time. It’s crucial to care for ourselves holistically—our minds, bodies, and spirits, whatever that means to you.
While I focus on evidence-based practices, I also understand that healing is not always purely physical. When faced with difficult or complex situations, I promise to remain by your side, ensuring that you continue to live your life with dignity and quality. Above all, I am dedicated to providing care that reflects your unique needs, preferences, and values, and I will always prioritize your well-being.
What inspired you to become a doctor?
I have always aspired to devote my life to promoting health and healing. Growing up in Poland, I was profoundly inspired by my father, a pediatric surgeon. From an early age, I accompanied him in his various roles across many clinical settings, observing his unwavering dedication, compassion, and commitment to his community.
My father has always been and continues to be our family’s first call for medical advice. His steadfast presence by his patients’ sides, even when recovery was uncertain, made a lasting impression on me. Upon moving to America, I witnessed my parents transform themselves into individuals navigating a new country, all while raising two children. They met adversity with grace, working tirelessly to build a better life for my sister and me. My parents are the two strongest people I know, never giving up—even when the work was tough. Their resilience and perseverance have been a constant source of inspiration for me, particularly during the rigors of medical training.
To me, being a physician is the most rewarding career path. It is a privilege to connect with people, meet their families, and become an integral part of their lives. This fusion of science, empathy, and community engagement has guided my commitment to being a doctor.
