Bio
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
I am an advanced practice provider in Valley Medical Group Palliative Care and visit patients and loved ones in their homes or assisted living facilities. Palliative Care is a patient and family centered care, an extra layer of support with a goal of optimizing quality of life by anticipating, preventing and treating suffering throughout the continuum of illness/chronic disease. It involves addressing physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs and facilitates patient autonomy, access to information and choice.
What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?
I worked with the multidisciplinary team to create a supportive, family centered environment so patients and their families receive comprehensive, innovative, equitable, evidence-based care.
Describe some of your professional highlights.
I started my career at Valley Hospital in 1984 as a staff RN, initially on the Oncology floor. Over the years, I have been in different specialties and departments; working on the Intermediate Care Unit; in Pain Management, starting the interventional program in 1999 alongside anesthesiology, and Thoracic Surgery, supporting patients through their lung cancer journey and treatments.
A major highlight of my career was when I received my advanced degree in nursing in 2012 and I am now an advanced practice provider in Palliative Care, where today, I have discovered my passion in caring for patients in their homes and in the community.
