What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

I am triple board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. As a primary care physician, I specialize in multicomplexity, meaning multiple medical conditions in older adults combined with geriatric syndromes like frailty, polypharmacy, falls, delirium, and dementia.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

I have been recognized as a National Institute on Aging Butler-Williams Scholar, awarded Outstanding Faculty Educator by graduating medical students of the University of Texas Health San Antonio, and served on the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Geriatric Medicine Item-Writing Task Force. I was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health San Antonio, Inpatient Geriatric Medical Director for a geriatric trauma consult service, and clinic medical director for a senior focused value-based care clinic.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

I approach care based on patient values and goals. Identifying patient priorities allows me to develop a plan together with the patient that best aligns with their goals. As a geriatrician, I understand how aging, when combined with medical conditions, can impact function and cognition. I also believe it is important to approach care as a team, utilizing our interdisciplinary team members including our geriatric social worker, combined with the patient's own support system, to develop and implement a successful plan of care.
