Bio
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
In the setting of the Cardiac Screening Program, I provide cardiac risk assessments, cardiac wellness and risk reduction education, and cardiac prevention community outreach. As part of our valve clinic team, I assist with the care of our structural heart patients. We coordinate care for individuals that are being evaluated for non-invasive treatment of aortic and mitral valve disease in collaboration with the interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery teams.
What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?
Cardiac screening visits include a detailed review of individual risk factors for cardiac disease, ASCVD risk score calculation, and a thorough discussion of lifestyle (nutrition and activity) habits with recommendations for improvements as necessary. Risk factors reviewed include, but are not limited to personal medical history, family cardiac history, autoimmune/inflammatory history, history of cancer and treatment modalities, and female-specific risk factors (such as gestational diabetes, and pre-eclampsia).
Describe some of your professional highlights.
I have practiced as a certified health coach in a previous Nurse Practitioner role. I use my health coach training in my screening appointments to provide lifestyle modification recommendations that are realistic, meaningful and align with the patient's health goals while taking into account individual circumstances.
