Bio

What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

Patients are referred to me and my team after receiving a Heart Failure or Pulmonary Hypertension diagnosis- either within the hospital, or in the outpatient setting. There are many types of Heart Failure and different types of patients. Basically, when the heart is not 'relaxing' or 'squeezing' well, or there are valvular issues- our team gets consulted to best optimize the medical management and diuretic regimen. If patients are failing all other means of therapy, I am available to consult on the advanced therapy of Left Ventricular Devices for those patients that may be eligible and if they decide to pursue this therapy, I am the coordinator directly involved in their care.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

I specialize in optimization of your heart medications in efforts to improve the heart and decongest you safely with diuretics by monitoring your blood work closely. I am able to use ultrasound and radar technology in the clinic to detect fluid in the chest and can interrogate your pacemaker or obtain an EKG if there are concerns at that outpatient visit. I also can interrogate patients that live with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD)s and interpret the data.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

I have lectured locally and nationally on Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support and hold certifications in Heart Failure (CHFN), Critical Care (CCRN), and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD-C). I am an AANP certified nurse practitioner since 2009 and a registered nurse since 1999 -- always specializing in Cardiac patients. I have been a big part of our obtaining initial certification here at

Valley Hospital for the VAD Program and have also experience doing this hospital-wide program development once before at another hospital.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

I would like my patients to know that my approach is very focused, detailed, individualized, and comprehensive when it comes to your care. I am a communicator and often welcome the family to participate in the visits since it helps me have a full perspective on the patient's needs and overall exam. It is my passion and heart centered approach to patient care has been well received by my patients and families.

What inspired you to become a nurse practitioner?

I was inspired to be a Nurse Practitioner after working many years in cardiac surgery ICU and feeling the confidence to be more independent in my care and offer more for my patients. Cardiac has always been my passion since my father was diagnosed at a very young age. I was inspired by the skilled providers that took care of him in a way I couldn't. My life's purpose is to heal others and

bring light into this world. It is my honor to take part in caring for patients in a time of need.
