Bio

What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

Outline a plan for diagnosis, evaluation, and management of patients at risk for or those who have already experienced arrhythmia; unexplained palpitations (sensation that the heartbeat is irregular or racing); unexplained stroke; unexplained syncope (fainting); cardiomyopathy (weakness of the heart muscle); specific arrhythmias such as skipped heartbeats, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation; cardiac arrest.

We are pleased to offer state-of-the-art techniques and procedures at The Valley Hospital to patients with suspected or known arrhythmias.

For patients who require implantation of a cardiac device: implantable loop recorders; pulmonary artery pressure sensors (CardioMEMS); left atrial appendage closure devices (watchman and lariat); permanent pacemakers, including leadless pacemakers, single and dual chamber pacemakers, His-bundle pacing, cardiac resynchronization therapy; implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), including subcutaneous ICDs, single and dual chamber ICDs, cardiac resynchronization therapy; and a full suite of remote patient monitoring services available on a 24/7/365 basis.

For patients who require catheter ablation: three-dimensional mapping, robotic catheter navigation, cryo and radiofrequency energy-based ablation, focal impulse and rotor mapping (FIRM), hybrid ablation for patients with refractory atrial fibrillation, cardioversion, tilt table testing.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

My active research interests include the evaluation and management of patients with atrial fibrillation, the evaluation and management of patients with unexplained syncope, the role of implantable monitors in patients with known or suspected arrhythmias, and overcoming barriers to remote patient monitoring.

I have been an invited speaker at major academic institutions; an invited faculty member (year in and year out) at the Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and the Heart Rhythm Society; and an invited speaker in Europe and India. I am a member of the Heart Rhythm Society's Board of Trustees.

I am the Associate Editor of the newly launched Cardiovascular Digital Health Journal and an Editorial Board member of Circulation: Arrhythmia & Electrophysiology; the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: ElectrophysiologyHeart Rhythm; and Heart Rhythm O2.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

My approach to patient care can be summarized in the following seven words: "evidence-based, team-directed, patient-centered healthcare." To accomplish this goal, I work hard to ensure that a full range of clinical and research opportunities are available to our patients so that I can deliver the right care at the right time. My goal is to treat the individual patient with a particular symptom and disease, not just the symptom or disease.
