What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

I have been a practicing nurse practitioner for 25 years and a certified lactation consultant for 28 years. I perform pediatric well and sick visits along with mother and baby lactation visits. I treat children from infancy up until late adolescence. I treat children with both chronic conditions such as asthma, eczema, seasonal allergies, and acute conditions such as colds, throat infections and minor skin infections.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

We provide preventive pediatric health services in our practice which include annual physicals, sports physicals, and camp physicals. We also manage pediatric illnesses with the potential to escalate care by referring them to The Valley Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department and inpatient unit if needed.

The following techniques and procedures are used in our practice. Point of care testing including: viral respiratory infections, Group A streptococcus, mononucleosis, hemoglobin, lead, urinalysis, and pregnancy tests.

We also perform: vaccinations, blood draws, urine catheters, minor wound care, suture removal, chemical cauterization of granulation tissue, vision screening, hearing screening, and nebulizer treatment.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

I chose to specialize in pediatrics as I was drawn to focus on breastfeeding and nutrition, preventive medicine, childhood development and the unique opportunity to forge longitudinal relationships with patients and their families. Having children, I relate to and appreciate both the challenges and joys of parenthood, and I strive to compassionately care for each patient and family as they were my own.
