Bio
What are some of the specific conditions you treat?
As a part of the Interventional/Structural Heart Cardiology team at The Valley Hospital, I work collaboratively with interventional cardiologists to care for patients with coronary artery disease, cardiogenic shock, valvular disease, and other structural heart conditions. I am a hospital-based provider who evaluates patients in consultation, pre-procedure and post-procedure, ensuring continuity of care. Some of the procedures/conditions I am referring to include complex coronary intervention including revascularization of chronic total occlusions, treatment of resistant hypertension via a minimally invasive procedure called renal denervation, CardioMems, PA sensor implant for heart failure management, and treatment of patent foramen ovale, atrial septal defects, and transcatheter aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve repair. Other procedures and conditions include intervention for acute pulmonary embolism, mechanical circulatory support, cardiogenic shock, and the endovascular treatment of peripheral vascular disease.
Describe some of your professional highlights.
I have been with Valley since 2015. I started as a coronary care unit (CCU) nurse where I also took on roles as charge nurse and preceptor. In 2020 I completed my master’s in science degree in nursing (MSN) with summa cum laude honors and got board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). I started my nurse practitioner career with the heart failure-electrophysiology team at Valley where I gained invaluable knowledge and experience. In 2023 I transitioned to a hospital-based position with the Interventional/Structural Heart cardiology team, my current role, where I continue to learn and grow every day.
What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?
My approach to care is based on creating a trusting connection and actively listening as it helps guide decision making and learn about possible barriers to treatment the patient may be facing (costs, lack of social support, etc). Not every patient is the same and therefore an individualized, patient-centered approach is key to successful treatment and disease management. Additionally, the nurse in me finds patient education to be a critical component to success. I spend much of my time educating patients and families about their disease, pre and -post procedural care, medication education, lifestyle/dietary changes, and future preventative measures that can be taken. Overall, our goal as the Interventional/Structural Heart Cardiology team is to help improve your quality of life so you may enjoy more of your time with family and friends.
