What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

Some of the specific conditions that I treat are: interstitial lung disease or pulmonary fibrosis, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, lung cancer, lung nodule management, lung cancer screening, obstructive sleep apnea, pneumonia, and pleural effusion.

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

Some of the techniques and procedures that I use in my practice are pulmonary function testing, thoracentesis, and bronchoscopy.

Describe some of your professional highlights.

I have been involved in direct patient care in the office and hospital setting, including intensive care units, since 1986. I have additional qualifications in quality assurance and utilization review and continue to participate in peer review processes.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

My approach to patients is to first provide a welcoming and calm demeanor. I proceed methodically to reach a diagnosis and then discuss treatment options always respecting the patient's right to self-determination.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

My desire to help and care for those in need and to guide them through a difficult illness.

Dr. O'Donnell answers whatever question you ask and explains everything to you so that you can understand what's going on. He's a very compassionate doctor and wants you to feel at ease no matter what the problem is. Dealing with [...] cancer he made me feel that everything will be okay, and it has been. I no longer have [...] cancer thanks to the early diagnosis radiation and it's gone. Thank you very much Dr. O'Donnell.

I came to Dr. O'Donnell after two chest CTs, which showed some lung changes; I have a family history of lung disease and was concerned. I had seen a pulmonologist previously, who did not take my concerns seriously. Dr. O'Donnell was wonderful. He took a detailed history, then showed me my CT slice by slice, pointing out areas of concern. I found his approach very calming.

Dr O'Donnell quickly put my cancer fears to rest. I'd been referred back to the pulmonologist due to spots appearing on a recent CT scan. We had a very through conversation about my current lung condition. I'll be coming back for a respiratory evaluation. Dr O'Donnell gave me some advice on what I can do in the meantime.
