Bio

What are some of the specific conditions you treat?

Cardiovascular disease and prevention, familial hypercholesterolemia, elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)], hypertriglyceridemia (high triglycerides), coronary artery disease, aortic stenosis, and statin intolerance

What techniques or procedures do you use in your practice?

Advanced lipid testing, coronary CT angiography, echocardiography, nuclear stress testing

Describe some of your professional highlights.

I was school president at NYU school of Medicine and selected into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. In Cardiology Fellowship, I served as chief fellow in my final year at Mount Sinai Hospital. During my lipids and cardiometabolic disease fellowship year, I was awarded the New York Academy of Medicine Glorney-Raisbeck Cardiovascular Research Fellowship to study the intersection between lipoprotein(a), oxidized phospholipids, and coronary atherosclerosis. I have served as sub-investigator and principal investigator on several clinical trials. I have presented research at national and international conferences, including at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Madrid. I have been published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology, European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, Journal of American Heart Association, and Nature Genetics.

What would you like patients to know about your approach to care?

I take a very holistic approach to patient care. We have a swath of information available to us like never before, but we have to synthesize it in a way that makes sense for the patient and the patient's family. I enjoy aggregating the data and summarizing options for preventive care as well as for diagnostic cardiology. I tend to be very thorough and comprehensive in my evaluations.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

I was always good at math and science in school, and my parents strongly encouraged me to consider medicine. After seeing significant coronary artery disease in my own family, I was inspired to go into cardiology. I chose preventive cardiology because cardiovascular disease is a highly preventable condition. We live in a time with extraordinary diagnostic tools and therapeutics available to make preventing cardiovascular disease an achievable mission. I enjoy inspiring patients to get screened for cardiovascular disease and take the appropriate steps necessary to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
